What is a Creative Play Date?

Young children are constantly connected to their creative voice. As they grow up and become adults, that voice is pushed aside, or shut down entirely because of the misconception that it is silly or has no place in the adult world. But guess what? The creative skills we lose access to would actually serve us very well in the adult world if we just knew how to incorporate them effectively! At the play date I will provide crafty, messy projects to work on. We will create goodies with the caveat that: The value and beauty of these things must be judged with the eyes of a 5 year old. That means our goal is not to make something attractive, appropriate or “good” based upon our judgments as adults. Instead, we want to end up with something that would rock a 5 years olds’ world! Learning to give up our current set of “Judgment Parameters” is the first step towards becoming fearless. Come play and rediscover your creative voice!

Some of the Classes Available:

  •  "Back to Basics: Vocal Technique" Breathing, Placement, Range.
  • “Aspects of Performance " Learn to OWN the stage, whatever your medium.
  • "Creative Expression” Discover YOUR creative Voice!
  • “Creative Play" Learn to express your inner artist!

Please reserve your spot in the classes by calling 949) 291-1417 or email me at
Karen@Jazzgal.com

Directions furnished with reservation - Times and Dates subject to change.

General Format:

Using exercises, games and visualizations we will explore and expand our creative possibilities. You do not need to be a singer to attend the Creative Expression Classes. They are open to anyone who is interested in delving into their own creative process, no matter what the focus may be. (Including applying creative principals to your daily life!)

In Aspects of Performance and Back to Basics we will work on various approaches to performance, from dealing with stage presence issues to technique and delivery. This is applicable to all forms of performance. Singers, actors or public speakers (even teachers or lawyers); a prepared piece would be helpful, but is not required.

Dress comfortably and please bring a notebook to all classes. Also, please note any other materials listed for the classes. I recommend you bring a tape recorder and tape the classes for future reference.
